OBSERVATION POINTS      BACK

Walter and Elise Haas Promenade: Perhaps the most impressive view of Jerusalem is that from the ridge leading from Hebron Road to the former British Government House (today the UN Headquarters) and to the new suburb of East Talpiot. A promenade 600 yards long and six wide has been built here out of golden Jerusalem stone. Special lighting has been installed. From the promenade, you look down across the valley to the walls of the Old City. Mt. Zion and the Arab village of Silwan. In the distance, the Mount of Olives and Mount Scopus can be seen. Leading onwards from the Haas Promenade and sweeping down and around to the Abu Tor neighbourhood is an even newer walkway - the Gabriel Sherover Promenade. This promenade descends through beautifully landscaped and carefully tended gardens, with equally magnificent views over the Old City and the surrounding areas.
