SPORTS AND OUTDOOR LIFE      BACK

Tel Aviv's largest park is Hayarkon Park on Rokach Blvd. with thousands of dunams of gardens, lawns, a rare exotic garden, a lake and a miniature railway. Other areas of greenery include Park Hadarom in South Tel Aviv, Gan Meir in King George St., Gan Hakovshim in Hakovshim St. and Gan Yaakov on Tarsat Blvd.

The Sportek on Rokach Blvd. offers a large variety of sports fields and facilities including a jogging track. Other sports include rowing and kayaking on the Yarkon River, tennis on courts at Rokach Blvd. and in Jaffa on Yefet Street. The Hilton and Ramat Aviv hotels also have tennis courts.

Tel Aviv beaches are well known for their warm Mediterranean water, though the calm waters can be deceiving. Do not swim without the supervision of lifeguards, who are generally on duty at public beaches until 4 p.m. in summer.

Swimming pools are available at hotels, at Gordon Beach and in Ramat Aviv at the university. Tel Aviv has two marinas, near Atarim (Namir) Square, where boats and wind-surfing equipment can be hired, and at Jaffa Port.
